۞ to all the shadow the hedgehog fans out there, welcome to the official carrd for our event! the ultimate lifeform gift exchange is a gift exchange centred around everything shadow! if you're interested in writing a fic, creating some art, recording a podfic or more then you've come to the right place.

the ultimate lifeform gift exchange is an event being hosted across multiple platforms but primarily takes place on discord (where we spread the information) and ao3 (where all amazing things we've all created will end up.

with three months to create a beautiful piece of work you will be matched with an individual who will give you a long list of their likes and DNWs (do not want) to help bring them a spectacular gift!

apply to be a mod: fill out the form on our tumblr to offer a hand running this event
get inspired: start thinking of what you might potentially want to receive or create for this event
get an ao3 account: it's crucial that you have an ao3 account to sign-up and take part in this event. it normally takes around a week to get an account so sign-up now!
anonymous
while the gift exchange is running, no information about who you've received as a giftee should be revealed or the contents of your gift should be revealed. we want to keep this exchange a surprise until the very end, so to make sure of this, we need to keep certain aspects of it under wraps.
new work
any works submitted to this event should be new and created with the intention of this event in mind. you will be given a hefty amount of time to complete the assignment given to you, meaning that whatever you create should be catered towards the prompts, likes, and don't wants that your giftee nominates.
ai, reposting and/or stealing
the use of ai is strictly prohibited. everything that's submitted to this event should be 100% original and created by you. any instance of stealing or reposting someone else's work, and the use of ai will result in you being permanently banned from the event and future instances of it – no exceptions.
completeness
due to this event spanning over a couple of months, there's a certain amount of work we're expected to be done by the time we get to submitting our pieces. unfortunately, we don't have a universal standard for what this may look like, but some examples of our expectations are: a multi-chapter and/or novella length fanfiction, detailed piece of fanart, animatic, animation or fan comic, etc.
can i make multiple requests/offers?
you're free to list down as many prompts, ideas, and tags that you'd be willing to create something for. when you sign up for the event, there will only be one request and offer box but you're allowed to put as much detail to it as you can fit. the same goes for tags, additional characters and/or ships. you're also able to create treats for those participating in the event if you want to create something a little extra.
what do i do if i have a question about my giftee's prompts?
if you have any questions or need to get in contact with your giftee then you can reach out to us and we'll get in contact with them for you. by doing this, we can keep everything anonymous and make it all a surprise when the gifts and creators are revealed.
how do we get assigned a giftee?
you will be assigned a giftee on multiple different aspects such as: ships and characters you have outside of shadow, your preferred universe this gift will take place in (eg, the movieverse), additional tags, and each of your dnw lists. in the end, you may be receiving a piece of art, fanfiction, or something else since this is based on everyones overall likes.
what happens if i need to drop out?
if you need to drop out you must reach out to us so we can assign a pinch hitter to your assignment. by letting us know you're dropping out, we can assign someone to take your place and ensure that your giftee still receives something after all of their hard work creating a gift of their own, as well as allowing the pinch hitters optimal time to get it done.
